CamDocUK Timeline and History

CamDocUK was born on the 1st March 2008 following our inaugural meeting at Professor Konje’s home in Leicester. At this first meeting the name CamDocUK was chosen and an executive was elected. A constitution committee was set up to work on the association’s constitution.

CamDocUK was born out of a desire of Cameroonian medical professionals to get together, share their experiences, support each other and work towards improving healthcare in our communities both within the UK and in Cameroon.

A brief timeline of CamDocUK from 2008 to 2020. 2008 CamDocUK conceived 2009 Meeting with University of Buea (UB) Vice-President. First meeting with Cameroon High Commission (CHC). 2011 CamDocUK officially established as a UK-based chary 2012-2013 Creation of CamDocUK 5-year development pan Meeting with CamfoMedics and unofficial collaboration Official teaching at UB 2014 CamDocUK offically within the CMC and the CHC Donation of books to UB CamDocUK "Mentorship for children" established Donation of 50 beds to hospitals in Cameroon. Visit to Cameroon with delegation from World Orthopedic Concern 2016 Small grants scheme established Volunteer operations on 400 patients at Sangmelima hospital Counseling for women held at Douala-based NGO Mentorship for Children visit to Eagles Solicitors 2018-2020 Official collaborative relationships established with: - UdM, - CHRI, - BAPIO, - University de Dschang (UD), - UB 2020 and beyond: PPE project to help fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in Cameroon BMJ award - books received and donated to UD Educational activities: CamDocUK talking with the community, Journal Clubs MOUs with Ensemble Manchester, HERO 5-year development plan in place, available on our website.
